Randomization Schemes
Generates a complete randomisation sequence in advance — for when you want to prepare the allocation list before the trial begins.
Randomisation methods
| Method | What it does |
|---|---|
| Simple randomisation | Each subject independently assigned — simple but can produce imbalanced groups in small trials |
| Block randomisation | Subjects randomised within blocks to keep group sizes balanced throughout |
| Stratified randomisation | Separate randomisation within strata (e.g. site, sex, age) to ensure balance on key prognostic factors |
Output
- Full allocation sequence
- Can be reviewed and exported
- Group balance summary
Block randomisation prevents large imbalances that simple randomisation can produce in small trials. Stratified randomisation ensures balance on important covariates.
The scheme should be chosen before the trial starts and documented in the protocol.
