Manuscript Reviewer Module

The Manuscript Reviewer Module -- the Clinical and Statistical Evaluation Wizard -- checks a research manuscript against the reporting guideline appropriate to its study design. Upload your manuscript as a PDF, the module identifies the study type, and it produces an item-by-item compliance review against the matching checklist (CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, ARRIVE, and more).

Why reporting checklists matter

Most journals require manuscripts to follow a reporting guideline matched to the study design. These are checklists of items a complete report must contain (randomization method, blinding, sample-size justification, flow of participants, etc.). Missing items are a common cause of revision requests and rejection.

The module automates the tedious part: rather than manually working through a 20-40 item checklist, you get an item-by-item assessment of whether each required element is present and adequately reported.

The workflow

Upload PDF -> Identify study type -> Choose review method -> Review -> Compliance report
Step What happens
Upload Upload your manuscript as a PDF
Identify study type Study design is determined via short survey, manual selection, or AI detection
Choose review method Pick AI review (automated) or manual review (guided, hands-on)
Review Manuscript checked item-by-item against matching checklist
Report Compliance report with per-item findings, justifications, and recommendations

Two review modes

Mode How it works Best for
AI Review AI reads entire manuscript, evaluates each checklist item automatically Fast, automated first pass
Manual Review You work through checklist yourself, item by item Careful, reviewer-controlled assessment

Both modes use the same underlying checklist for the identified study type.

Reporting guidelines covered

Includes CONSORT (randomized trials), STROBE (observational studies), PRISMA (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), ARRIVE (animal experiments), plus guidelines for diagnostic-accuracy studies, AI/ML studies (CLAIM/TRIPOD-AI), economic evaluations, case reports, and many specialised designs.

What you get

The output is a compliance report containing:

  • Item-by-item compliance checking -- each checklist item marked as addressed or not
  • Detailed justifications for each rating
  • Major and minor issues identified
  • Overall recommendation -- Accept / Minor Revisions / Major Revisions / Reject
  • Actionable recommendations for addressing gaps

Who it is for

  • Authors preparing a manuscript -- self-check compliance before submission
  • Peer reviewers -- structure review against appropriate guideline
  • Supervisors and students -- learn and apply reporting standards
  • Editorial and methods support -- triage manuscripts against reporting requirements
